In Istanbul are many beautiful mosques and many of them hides an interesting story from history. The atmosphere their surroundings and the interior is magnificent.

V Istanbule je množstvo nádherných mešít a veľa z nich ukrýva zaujímavý príbeh z histórie. Atmosféra ich okolia ako aj ich interiéru je neopakovateľná. 

Modrá mešita – Sultan Ahmed cami, Mavi cami

It is located directly across from perhaps the most famous Hagia Sophia. It is the most famous symbol of Istanbul as soon as Haghia Sophia. It is the largest mosque in the city, which alone has six minarets.  The basic rule is that normal mosque has one minaret, the greater may have two and great sultans mosque had four minarets but six minarets may have only mosque in Mecca. The rumor says that it happened by mistake. Sultan Ahmed asked the golden minarets, but as in Turkish, the words "gold" and "six" very similar (altin / alti), architect built six minarets. Sultan Ahmed finally had built the seventh minaret in Mecca.

   Nachádza sa priamo oproti azda najslávnejšiemu chrámu Hagia Sofia.  Je najznámejším symbolom Istanbulu hneď po Hagii Sofii. Jedná sa o najväčšiu mešitu v meste, ktorá ako jediná má šesť minaretov. Základným pravidlom je, že bežná mešita má jeden minaret, väčšia môže mať dva, ale šesť minaretov môže mať iba mešita v Mekke. Povesť vraví, že sa tak stalo omylom. Sultán Ahmed požiadal o zlaté minarety, ale keďže v turečtine sú slová „zlatý“ a „šesť“ veľmi podobné (altin / alti), architekt postavil minaretov šesť. Sultán Ahmed nakoniec musel nechať postaviť v Mekke siedmy minaret.

The mosque was built in the year. 1617 for Sultan Ahmed I. Location mosques high above the waters of the Sea of Marmara, the structural design and decor are top of Ottoman architecture. The mosque include the Museum of Carpet and Kilim, near is located the Mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed I. Enter to this mosque is free, but is not allowed at the time of prayer. Of course, as in all the mosques of women requires clothing covering the entire body and a scarf covering the head. Similarly, men are not suitable T-shirts and shorts.

Mešita bola postavená v r. 1617 pre sultána Ahmeda I. Poloha mešity vysoko nad vodami Marmarského mora, jej stavebné riešenie aj výzdoba predstavujú vrchol osmanskej architektúry. V interiéri mešity zaujmú štyri mohutné ryhované piliere nesúce hlavnú kupolu, stovky červenobielych modlitebných koberčekov, či päť radov farebne zasklených okien. Steny sú obložené modrými dlaždicami, ktoré dali mešite prívlastok „modrá“. K mešite patrí aj Múzeum kobercov a kelimov, neďaleko sa nachádza Mauzóleum sultána Ahmeda I.Vstup do tejto mešity je bez poplatku, avšak nie je povolený v čase modlitieb. Samozrejme ako vo všetkých mešitách sa od žien vyžaduje odev zakrývajúci celé telo a šatka zakrývajúca hlavu. Rovnako u mužov nie sú vhodné tričká s krátkym rukávom a krátke nohavice.

  Navzdory  pravidlám  boli  v posledních  storočiach  postavené  ďalšie  velké  mešity so  šiestimi, dokonca  siedmimi  minaretmi.  Dalšie  dve  šesť minaretové mešity  sa  nachádzaju priamov  Turecku v juhovýchodných mestách Mersin a Adana. V dnešných  dnoch  sa  stavia  velká  mešita  na  známom  kopci Camlica  tepesi, kde  je  v pláno  vybudovať 7 minaretov.

Sulejmanova mešita - Süleymaniye cami

It was built under the influence of Suleiman the Magnificent, during his reing the Ottoman Empire become to be  Worldr Power. The builder was the architect Mimar Sinan. Construction began in 1550 and lasted seven years.  Due to its location on one of the hills is well visible landmark of the city. The four minarets with a total of ten balconies are a symbol of the Sultan Suleiman was the tenth sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the fourth Padishah from conquest of the city. The mosque is a masterpiece of Ottoman classics and it  is also visible in interior which  is illuminated  by  the 138 decorated windows. Besides carpets, arcades, pointed arches and granite columns captivate you the chandeliers with bronze candlesticks, among which you can see large black ostrich eggs to prevent stretch  spiderwebs.

Bola postavená za vlády Sülejmana Nádherného, za ktorého vlády sa stala Osmanská ríša svetovou mocnosťou. Staviteľom bol architekt Mimar Sinan. Stavba začala v roku 1550 a trvala 7 rokov. Vďaka svojej polohe na jednom z pahorkov je dobre viditeľnou dominantou mesta. Štyri minarety s celkovo desiatimi balkónmi sú symbolom toho, že sultán Sulejman bol desiatym sultánom osmanskej ríše a štvrtým padišahom od dobytia mesta. Mešita je vrcholným dielom osmanskej klasiky a tomu zodpovedá a j interiér osvetlený celkovo 138 zdobenými oknami. Okrem kobercov, arkád, lomených oblúkov a žulových stĺpov zaujmú aj lustre s bronzovými svietnikmi, medzi ktorými je vidieť veľké čierne pštrosie vajcia, ktoré zabraňujú pavúkom naťahovať pavučiny.

The beauty of the mosque lies in its magnificence. A huge dome support the four pillars and the whole building is geometrically exact dimensions. The dome is exactly twice higher than the diameter of 26 meters. Dome decorated with Sinan favorite verse from the Koran: "God is the light of heaven and earth, light of the world. God leads to his light whom He want."  At the entrance to the mosque will amaze huge space and peace. The mosque has a perfect static, thanks to 6-7 m deep basis withstand an all earthquake that hit Istanbul in the past. 

 Krása mešity spočíva v jej veľkoleposti. Obrovskú kupolu podopierajú štyri piliere a celá stavba má geometricky presné rozmery. Kupola je presne dvakrát vyššia než jej priemer 26 metrov. Kupolu zdobí Sinanov obľúbený verš z Koránu: "Boh je svetlo nebies i zeme, svetlo sveta. Boh vedie k svojmu svetlu toho, koho chce." Pri vstupe do mešity vás ohromí obrovský priestor a pokoj. Mešita má dokonalú statiku, vďaka 6 až 7 metrov hlbokým základom prestála všetky zemetrasenia, ktoré Istanbul v minulosti postihli.

Vyznačuje sa tiež vynikajúcou akustikou, Sinan tu totiž použil tzv. rímsku techniku, ktorá zaisťovala, že sa zvuk rozliehal po mešite úplne neobvyklým spôsobom. Do stien nechal umiestniť kameninové nádoby, ktorých hrdlá boli otočené do priestoru. Cirkulácia vzduchu  medzi nádobami a priestormi mešity vytvárala neobvyklý a v tej dobe úplne jedinečný zvuk. Mešita tak získala unikátne akustické vlastnosti. Počas početných rekonštrukcií, ktorými mešita prešla, sa však niekomu "podarilo" otvory v múroch zamurovať a prekryť vrstvou malty. V súčasnosti sa však pracuje na ich postupnom odkrývaní. 

Around the courtyard of the mosque is situated 24 ancient columns 10 of white marble , 12 pink granite  and 2 of porphyry. All  come from "Kathisma" Byzantine imperial lodge the hippodrome. In the middle of the courtyard is a fountain shape reminiscent of the sacred Kaaba.

The actual mosque is part of a complex of buildings, which include the madrasa, caravanserai, armory, hospital and hamam. The complex also contains the tomb of Sultan Suleiman, his wife Hurem and Mimar Sinan.  

Okolo nádvorí mešity je situovaných 24 antických stĺpov 10 z bieleho mramoru, 12 z ružovej žuly a 2 z porfýru. Všetky údajne pochádzajú z "Kathisma", byzantskej cisárskej lóže na hipodróme. Uprostred nádvoria stojí fontána tvarom pripomínajúce posvätnú Kaaba. Samotná mešita je súčasťou komplexu stavieb, ku ktorým patrí medresa, karavansaraj, zbrojnice, nemocnica a hamam. V komplexe sa nachádzajú aj hrobky sultána Sulejmana, jeho manželky Hurem a Mimara Sinana.

Sultan Süleyman was not only the legislature but also a poet and patron of the arts. He managed to reform the government and its Code governed the empire until the 20th century. Ottoman Empire during his reign became the largest world power, whose boundaries spreaded out  from Hungary and Morocco to the Caucasus, Iran and Yemen.

Sultán Süleyman bol nielen zákonodarcom, ale aj básnikom a mecenášom umenia. Podarilo sa mu reformovať štátnu správu a jeho zákonníkom sa ríša riadila až do 20. storočia. Osmanská ríša sa počas jeho vlády stala najväčšou svetovou veľmocou, ktorej hranice sa rozkladali od Maďarska a Maroka až po Kaukaz, Irán a Jemen.

Nová mešita -Yeni Cami

The new mosque can be found at the southern end of the Galata Bridge.  It was built in the 17th century, in  the  time when some women managed to achieve influence so that they can apply the policy of the Ottoman sultans.  The building of the mosque began in 1597 Safiye, mother of Sultan Mehmed III. But he died early and Safiye lost its important position. Construction of the mosque was therefore discontinued. His accomplishment was achieved  in 1663, when the project began to pay the mother of Mehmet IV., Valide Turhan Sultan. 

Novú mešitu nájdete pri južnom konci Galatského mosta. Pochádza zo 17. storočia, teda z obdobia, keď sa niekoľko málo ženám podarilo dosiahnuť vplyv a mohli tak uplatňovať politiku osmanských sultánov. Stavbu mešity začala už v roku 1597 Safiye, matka sultána Mehmeda III. Sultán však predčasne skonal a Safiye stratila svoju dôležitú pozíciu.

Stavba mešity bola preto prerušená. Svojho dokončenia sa dočkala až v roku 1663, kedy sa projektu začala venovať matka Mehmeda IV., Valide Turhan Sultan. 

In the past, hiding in the mosque public baths, hospitals and even school. New Mosque also prides itself a beautiful interior decorations. Facing tiles in turquoise, blue and white, accompanied by floral patterns have been produced in the town of Iznik in the 17th century.

In the rear left corner  upper  gallerie you will find sultans grandstand, which is connected to the chambers of the Sultan. Such a stage with separate balcony allowed the sultan  safe to pray. The specialty of this mosque is that it has its own plastic bags with printing, in which visitors can put their shoes.

V minulosti sa v mešite ukrývali verejné kúpele, nemocnice a dokonca aj škola. Nová mešita sa pýši tiež krásnou vnútornou výzdobou. Obkladové dlaždičky v tyrkysovej, modrej a bielej farbe, doplnené kvetinovými vzormi, boli vyrobené v mestečku Iznik v 17. storočí. 

V ľavom zadnom rohu hornej galérie nájdete sultánovu tribúnu, ktorá je prepojená s komnatami sultána. Takáto tribúna s oddeleným balkónom umožňovala sultánovi sa v bezpečí modliť.

Špecialitou tejto mešity je, že má vlastné igelitové tašky s potlačou, do ktorých si návštevníci môžu odkladať svoju obuv.

Mešita dobyvateľa - Fatih cami

Fatih Mosque was built on the ruins of the church of the Apostles in the years 1463 to 1470 and is named after the Ottoman conqueror of Istanbul, Fatih Sultan Mehmet.  In the mosque is his mausoleum. This mosque with enormous size and great complex of religious buildings, including theological school, hospices, spas, hospitals and libraries definitely worthwhile the visit.

Mešita Fatih bola postavená na zrúcaninách kostola Apoštolov v rokoch 1463 až 1470 a nesie meno osmanského dobyvateľa Istanbulu, sultána Fatiha Mehmeta. V mešite sa nachádza jeho mauzóleum. Vzhľadom na obrovskú rozlohu a veľký komplex náboženských budov, vrátane medries (teologických škôl), hospicov, kúpeľov, nemocnice a knižnice, návšteva určite stojí za to. 

Next to the mosque is the tomb of Sultan Mehmed II. And also his wife Gulbahar Hatun. Since the mosque located further from the center also the atmosphere is more traditional.  The original mosque was destroyed by an earthquake, restored it in the 18th century during the reign of Mustafa III. From the original building was preserved only mihrab minarets and the basics.

Vedľa mešity sa nachádza hrobka Sultána Mehmeda II. A tiež jeho ženy Gulbahar Hatun. Kedže sa mešita nachádza ďalej od centra aj atmosfera je tu viac tradičnejšia.Pôvodná mešita bola zničená zemetrasením, obnovili ju v 18.storočí za vlády Mustafu III. Z pôvodnej stavby sa zachoval iba mihráb a základy minaretov.

Princova mešita - Sehezade cami

In the  part of Fatih on  third hill rises  beautiful  Sehzade mosque. It was built between 1543 - 1548 as a memorial to the eldest son of Sultan Suleiman and his wife Hurem, Mehmet, who died at 21 years. About his death there  are many rumors.

V časti Fatih na treťom pahorku sa týči krásna Princova mešita . Bola postavená v rokoch 1543 - 1548 ako pamiatka na najstaršieho syna Sultana Sulejmana a jeho manželky Hurem, Mehmeta, ktorý zomrel v 21 rokoch. O jeho smrti kolujú mnohé dohady.

The mosque is surrounded by an inner colonnaded court (Avlu) .In the center of the courtyard is a fountain that later donated by Sultan Murat IV. Two minarets have elaborate geometric sculptures.

Mešita je obklopená vnútorným stĺpovým dvorom (Avlu).V centre nádvoria sa nachádza fontána, ktorú sem neskôr daroval Sultán Murat IV. Dva minarety majú komplikované geometrické sochy.

There is also the tomb, the tomb of his brother Cihangir and Grand Vizier Rustempasa. The walls are lined with tiles from Iznik.

Nachádza sa tu aj jeho hrobka,  hrobka jeho brata Cihangira a velkovezíra Rustempasu. Steny su obložené dlaždicami z Izniku .

Beyazidova mešita - Beyazid cami

On  the  Beyazit Square is scattered complex, which was built by Sultan Bayezid II (son of Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror.) In the period 1500-1505. The complex consists of a mosque, a kitchen, elementary schools, hospitals, madrasas, hamam, soup soup kitchens for the poor and tavern caravanserai). From the Fatih complex before it is different it was not built symmetrically but in seemingly random style.

Po námestí Beyazit je roztrúsený komplex, ktorý  dal postaviť sultán Bayezid II ( syn sultána Dobyvateľa Mehmeda II. )  v rokoch 1500-1505. Komplex pozostáva z mešity, kuchyne, základnej školy, nemocnice, medresy, hamamu, vývarovne polievky pre chudobných a hostinca caravanserai). Od komplexu Fatih pred ním sa líši v tom, že nebol postavený symetricky, no v zdanlivo náhodnom štýle.

Beyazit Mosque is in the middle of the complex. The main dome has a diameter of 16.78 meters and it support the four pillars. Handicraft work with stone, wood and colored glass is a masterful work of art . The material for paving the yard, columns and tray washing was obtained from the byzantine ruins that there were reused.   These columns demonstrate the quality of Byzantine craft skills. Kitchen and tavern (caravanserai) are the left of the mosque and are currently used Beyazid State Library. Madrasas right of the Mosque uses Turkish calligraphy foundation as a museum. Close to madrasas on the Ordu street next to the department of literature is hamam. On the side of the mosque facing Mecca are tombs. There are buried Sultan Bayezid II, his daughter Selçuk Hatun and Architects Building Tanzimat Fermani, Mustafa Resit Pasha.

 Mešita Beyazit je v strede komplexu. Jej hlavná kupola má v priemere 16,78 metrov a podopierajú ju štyri stĺpy. Remeselná práca s kameňom, drevom a farebným sklom je majstrovským umeleckým dielom. Materiál na dlažbu na dvore a na stĺpy a zásobník na umývanie sa získal z byzantských ruín, ktoré tu boli znovu použité. Tieto stĺpy názorne dokazujú kvalitu byzantskej remeselníckej zručnosti. Vývarovňa a hostinec (caravanserai) sú naľavo od mešity a v súčasnosti ich využíva Beyazitská štátna knižnica. Medresu  napravo od mešity využíva Turecká nadácia pre kaligrafiu ako múzeum. V neďaleko od medresy, na ulici Ordu vedľa katedry literatúry sa nachádza hamam. Na strane mešity otočenej smerom k Mekke sa nachádzajú hrobky. Pochovaní tam sú sultán Bayezid II, jeho dcéra Selçuk Hatun a architekt objektu Tanzimat Fermani, Mustafa Resit Paša.

Eyup Sultan Mešita - Eyüp Sultan Cami

The square called Eyup Meydani at the end of the Golden Horn stands Eyup Mosque Cami. It is the first mosque built in Istanbul following its conquest. It is said that some of these locations in 672 during  the Islamic attack on Constantinople died Eyup (Eyyub el Ensari), one of the close followers of the Prophet Muhammad.  At the time of Sultan Mehmed II besieged Istanbul and finally  soldiers commuted power, was found Eyüp grave. Na námestí nazývanom Eyüp Meydani na konci Zlatého rohu stojí mešita Eyüp Cami. Je to prvá mešita postavená v Istanbule po jeho dobytí. Vraví sa, že približne v týchto miestach v roku 672 pri islamskom útoku na Konštantínopol zomrel Eyup ( Eyyub el Ensari ), jeden z blízkych stúpencov proroka Mohameda. V období, keď Sultán Mehmed II obliehal Istanbul a v závere dochádzali vojakom sily, bol nájdený Eyupov hrob. Vraví sa, že práve táto skutočnosť zmobilizovala samotného sultána a nakoniec aj všetkých vojakov k zintenzívneniu bojov a následnému dobytiu mesta.

Currently, the site is considered one of the holiest places after Mecca, where Muslims perform the pilgrimage. Especially on Friday, at a time of great noon prayer, here meet a large number of highly religious people.  When you got through crowd of believers to the sacred tomb, you can admire the front part, which is decorated with colorful tiles with abstract ornaments and quotes from the Koran.

The parts mosaics come from different historical periods and together form an extremely harmonious whole.  At the bottom of the mausoleum is planted into a wall grid, which covers the small window, through which is visible sarcophagus revered saint. The lattice is called "window prayers" and each of the pilgrims at  least  for  a  while stand and pray  in front of it.  

 V súčasnosti sa toto miesto považuje za jedno z najsvätejších miest po Mekke, kam moslimovia vykonávajú púť. Obzvlášť v piatok, v čase veľkej poludňajšej modlitby, sa tu schádza veľké množstvo silne veriacich ľudí. Keď sa prederiete davom veriacich až k posvätnej hrobke, môžete  obdivovať jej prednú časť, ktorú zdobia farebné kachle s abstraktnými ornamentami a citátmi z koránu. Jednotlivé časti mozaiky pochádzajú z rôznych historických období a spolu vytvárajú neobyčajne harmonický celok. V spodnej časti mauzólea je do steny zasadená mreža, ktorá zakrýva malé okienko, cez ktoré je vidieť sarkofág uctievaného svätca. Tej mreži sa hovorí "okno prosieb" a každý z pútnikov pred ňou aspoň chvíľu postojí a modlí sa.

  

Mihrimah mešita – Mihrimah Sultan cami

Name of the daughter of Sultan Suleiman Mihrimah in Farsi means "sun and moon". When the daughter of the Ottoman Sultan Süleyman reached 17 years, were interested in her two strong men. One of them was the vizier, while the other was a famous architect Sinan.

At that time was Mimar Sinan despite great love for Mihrimah already married. So with Mihrimah married Vizier Rustem Pasha. Mimar Sinan was responsible for building a mosque Mihrimah in Üsküdar (on the Asian side of Istanbul). Shortly afterwards Sinan in love started to build, this time at his own expense on the European side of Istanbul on a high hill a small mosque, and dedicated it just sultanas Mihrimah.  Like previous had appearance of lovely woman with long hair.

Meno dcéry sultána Sulejmana Mihrimah znamená v perzštine "slnko a mesiac".  Keď dcéra osmanského sultána Süleymana dosiahla 17 rokov, zaujímali sa o ňu dvaja silní muži. Jeden z nich bol vezír, zatiaľ čo druhý bol slávny architekt Sinan. V tej dobe bol však mimar Sinan napriek obrovskej láske k Mihrimah už ženatý. Takže sa s Mihrimah oženil vezír Rustem paša. Mimar Sinan bol poverený vybudovaním mešity pre  Mihrimah  v Üsküdar (na ázijskej strane Istanbulu). Zakrátko nato zamilovaný Sinan začal stavať, tentoraz na jeho vlastné náklady na európskej strane Istanbulu na vysokom kopci malú mešitu, a venoval ju práve sultánke Mihrimah. Rovnako ako predošlá mala pôvabný vzhľad ženy s dlhými vlasmi.

The two mosques are associated legend, which says that if we are the March 21's birthday Mihrimah at the right place  with a good view, we can see that when the sun sets behind a mosques minaret Mihrimah on the European side, the moon comes up between the two minarets of the mosque Mihrimah on the Asian side.  Sun and Moon - Mihrimah ... thus able love one man to turn his talents and skills in artistic treasures.

S oboma mešitami sa spája povesť, ktorá vraví, že ak sa 21. marca v deň narodenín Mihrimah nachádzame na správnom mieste s dobrým výhľadom, môžeme vidieť, že keď slnko zapadá za minaret Mihrimah mešity na európskej strane, mesiac prichádza medzi dvoma minaretmi Mihrimah  mešity na ázijskej strane. Slnko a Mesiac –Mihrimah ... takto dokázala láska jedného muža pretvoriť jeho nadanie a zručnosti v umelecké skvosty.

Mešita Dolmabahče -   Dolmabahçe   cami

Dolmabahçe Mosque is located on the Bosphorus in the southern part of the Dolmabahce Palace. Construction of the mosque began on command the mother of Sultan Abdülmecid, Bezmialem Valide Sultan, but when she died, the construction continued Sultan Abdülmecid.

It was completed in 1855 and the architect was Karabet Balyan. It is one of the significant mosques decorated in baroque style. The mosque is part of the palace complex. Both minarets have a gallery. Interior doors are decorated with a mixture of Baroque and Empire elements. From niche hangs valuable chandelier. Nika (mihrap) and pulpit (minber) in the mosque are made of porphyry marble.

Mešita Dolmabahçe sa nachádza pri Bospore v južnej časti paláca Dolmabahce. Výstavba mešity sa začala na príkaz matky sultána Abdülmecida, Bezmialem Valide Sultan, no keď zomrela, v stavbe pokračoval sultán Abdülmecid. Dokončená bola v roku 1855 a architektom bol Karabet Balyan. Je to jedna zo značne vyzdobených mešít v barokovom štýle. Mešita je súčasťou palácového komplexu. Obidva minarety majú galériu. Vnútorné dvere sú vyzdobené zmesou barokových a empírových prvkov. Z výklenku visí cenný luster. Nika (mihrap) a kazateľnica (minber) v mešite sú postavené z porfyrického mramoru.

Mešita Ortaköy - Ortaköy cami

The mosque is located on the banks of the Bosphorus in Ortakoy. In 1853 it built the royal architect Nikogos Balyan, during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid. The mosque is designed in Baroque style and has a great location. It consists of private rooms and private part of the sultans. 

Mešita sa nachádza na brehu Bosporu vo štvrti Ortaköy. V roku 1853 ju postavil kráľovský architekt Nikogos Balyan, za vlády sultána Abdulmecida. Mešita je projektovaná v barokovom štýle a má skvelú polohu. Pozostáva zo súkromných miestností a súkromnej časti pre sultánov. 

Wide and high windows were designed to release a light day from all over the Bosphorus. The mosque has two minarets, each with one gallery, which can be accessed by stairs. The walls are built of white stone.  The walls of  single dome mosque were decorated with pink mosaics. Niche in the wall kiblahu direction (the direction that Muslims rotate to prayer) was built of marble and decorated with mosaics, and the mihrab (pulpit), where stands the preacher was built of porphyry covered marble.

Široké a vysoké okná boli navrhnuté tak, aby púšťali dnu svetlo z celého Bosporu. Mešita má dva minarety, každý s jednou galériou, na ktoré sa možno dostať po schodisku. Múry sú postavené z bieleho kameňa. Steny jedinej kupoly na mešite boli ozdobené ružovými mozaikami. Výklenok v stene v smere kiblahu (smer, ktorým sa moslimovia otáčajú pri modlitbe) bol postavený z mramoru a vyzdobený mozaikou, a mihrab (kazateľnica), kde stojí kazateľ bola postavená z porfýru pokrytého mramorom.
